Start your charcoal chimney. Check out this post to learn different and effective ways to get your coals hot, lighter fluid not included!
Instead of dumping the coals into the pit or grill, put the grill grate right over the top to cook the steak. The really neat thing is that you get more of a concentrated heat. It doesn’t spread out like it does in a pit. This is more like cooking over a vortex attachment in your Weber.
Once the grate is nice and hot, it’s time to cook! We used a filet mignon steak seasoned with Grunt Rub from Code 3 Spices. Be sure to check out their rubs and other products at code3bbqsupply.com.
Let your steak cook for 60 to 90 seconds on each time or until your medium rare steak reaches 125 degrees Fahrenheit. This method gives really nice sear marks on your grilled steak.
If you’re going to do small portions or are only cooking for one, this is a great option. It is a quick and simple solution for all your bbq ideas and grilling recipes. What are some of creative ways that you guys like to cook steaks at home? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
