How to Smoke Bacon

This smoked bacon recipe is super easy to make! It’s not fast, but it’s worth the wait. This is the perfect recipe to add to your Sunday brunch rotation!

Easy Smoked Bacon Recipe

  1. First, begin with 1 pound of bacon (obviously). I like to use thick cut bacon when smoking it. But you can use whatever type of bacon you prefer!
  2. Second, lay the bacon evenly across a baking sheet or wire rack. This method allows for easy clean up and transport to and form the grill.
  3. Fire up your smoker and get it rolling at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Cook the bacon low and slow for 2 hours.
  5. After 2 hours, crank the smoker up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Cook the bacon for 5 minutes to get it nice and crispy. This time will vary depending on how crispy you like your bacon.

Pellet Smoker Hot Zones

smoked bacon

All pellet grills and smokers have hot zones or hotspots. You don’t want the tray too close to the front or the back because those are hot zones. That’s going to ensure that the bacon cooks evenly and comes out perfect! To read more about pellet smoker hot spots view this post.

SERIOUSLY Good Bacon

This is some seriously good bacon. I’m talking next level. What makes it next level? First of all, the thing is that smoky goodness from two hours low and slow on the smoker. But what really sets it apart is the fat. You’ve heard me say it so many times – the fat is where it’s at! That’s where bacon in general gets its flavor from. Since the bacon is cooked low and slow, the fat get rendered and turns into tasty bacon deliciousness. You HAVE to try this for yourself.

  1. This has to be the absolute laziest bacon smoking recipe I’ve found online. Where’s the cure? Where’s the 7 days of cure time? Where’s the spots to make my own variations on your recipe to improve and make unique?

It’s not there. And your “First, begin with 1 pound of bacon (obviously)” is not obvious to me, because while yes, you CAN just go to the grocery store and buy a package of bacon to smoke, why do you want to do it so basic?

I won’t be bookmarking this recipe for future use, since I have smoked bacon recipes that start with smoking 5lbs if pork belly. You should try that, because for someone with a website you shouldn’t put out the image that you’re just a lazy cook who doesn’t want to spend the time to make something truly flavourful and more unique that you CANT buy at the grocery store. Might get you more attention and views.

    1. This is all I needed. I wanted to take a lb of bacon and add more smoke, why do I need extra fluff to the recipe?

  2. I like simple. This is simple. As for one comment, Where can I get a five pound pork belly? And what do I do with the other 4.25 lbs of leftovers after my saturday morning pancake breakfast? Not to mention slicing it up up then back on the grill to get it crisp. No this recipe works just fine for me.
